This section of the Presidential panorama acquired by the Pathfinder mission shows an example of surface showing little dust cover and crust material (yellow arrows). Crust was also observed in the two Viking landing sites. Because it was layered, it was suggested that it was the result of a cementation process. Cementation might have been produced by some sulfur and chlorine compounds.
