Lava flows on the flanks of Kilauea, Hawaii. No pyroclastic flows are sent in the air. This effusive volcanism gently, but quite rapidly, will bring the lava to the ocean. Because of their velocity, these basaltic flows are composed of fluid lavas that can catch people by surprise.
