Grand canyon offers many resemblances with many of the canyon-like valley networks on Mars. Although the valley is wide and high, water is flowing only in a relatively small channel (about 20 meters) at the bottom. The same was true for Mars. Water eroded most of the canyon. However, the debris slopes on each bank of the channel show that rock avalanche contributes also to the enlargement of the canyon.
